Creative Collaboration: Kelly Herrick

You know I love a collaboration. My latest is with the creative inspiration and nature-inspired artist, Kelly Herrick. Kelly and I got to know each other through Build it Remarkable, the amazing business development programme by Kellee Wynne Conrad. We first met online and once I got chatting to Kelly I knew I wanted to work with her. She has developed an amazing creative offer for women experiencing peri and menopause and I'm a guest teacher on her course. I thought I would interview Kelly for the blog and this is what she had to say:

Tell me about your creative self, what’s your story, how long have you been making art and what is your creative passion?

I'm a landscape and nature-inspired artist. That nature connection part is super important to me, and celebrating how beautiful our world is with paint just brings me so much joy. From growing up on the fair I was always outside, travelling to new places and I guess that's where I still get my spirit of adventure from. I know it's definitely where I get my love of colour from! I always felt I'd do something creative, but during my University years I swapped from a theatre studies degree to a business degree and from then on I seemed to lose touch with that part of myself. Fast forward to my 40s and I hungered, literally hungered, for more creativity in my life. That's when I went back to painting, acting, photography, writing and swapped my corporate job for one in a design studio, starting my own art practice at the same time. I'm passionate now about helping other women connect to their own creativity because I think that's the way we'll change the world.

Tell me about your journey towards developing Rebloom School? How did you come up with the idea?

Perimenopause has been both a blessing and a challenge for me. I think, coming on the back of Covid, I put it down to the post-pandemic blues, but in the last year my symptoms have definitely ramped up. So, I started to work with my own menopause coach and really empower myself with knowledge on the subject, I love that menopause is now so widely discussed. It soon became apparent to me that I had been using art and making techniques, unwittingly, to help with many of my symptoms and challenges. From finding space in my day, to exploring this new version of me, from painting out my emotions to working out my purpose. Art has helped me become this second, deeper, more connected version of myself, a sort of Kelly 2.0. That's when I thought if I can use it to reimagine my menopause journey then that is something that needs sharing with the women of the world! So I dug into more research and tools, pulled it all together with hands-on creative practices and then sprinkled my own magic dust on top. That's how Rebloom School was born.

Tell me what Rebloom School is? What will I get if I join? How will it help me?

Rebloom School is made to help perimenopausing and menopausing women embrace their transformation, showing them how to access their inner fire and creativity and make a menopausal life worth living! It's a complete, hands-on, hearts-on creative program that teaches you to make your own customised menopause toolkit, inspiring you to flourish in midlife and become the Creatrix you were always meant to be. It's a one-of-a-kind program with oodles of great content, I even created a whole new methodology called SAGE (Spark, Awaken, Grow, Emerge) and it's a beautiful self-paced journey. It's designed to help you go from where you are now, to where you want to be, to transform yourself in the way only you can through creativity. It has over 30 video lessons from mindset to hands-on demos, with downloads, templates, audio files, a private community and of course amazing guest teachers (did I say Sue Bulmer is one?😄). Women joining us on the course will develop a whole new approach to their menopause gaining renewed energy, more flow and joy and an open mind to the endless possibilities ahead. And of course, we'll have fun too!

What other resources do you have for women experiencing perimenopause and menopause?

The symptoms we are going through often need to be tackled before we can step into that elevated version of ourselves, so with that in mind I created a free resource, the Menorelief Toolkit. It's a download that includes a 54 point symptoms checklist, and creative exercises to help with all of them. It's a fab guide because you can use it whenever and wherever you need to, coming back to the exercises again and again. The research shows that making art can have a positive effect on both your mental and physical health so I wanted to use that to help women with menopause symptoms too.

What is your creative dream?

Oh that's easy! I dream that women will change the world with their creativity, making it a better place for every soul on the planet. It might sound a bit woo-woo but I truly believe more of women's creative magic will transform the world. And of course... to ride off in my campervan and have amazing arty adventures.

Thanks for joining me Kelly. I'm wishing you all the best for Rebloom School!!
