time is flying by

I can’t believe how fast time is flying by and that it’s nearly the end of November already. I’ve been left my job a month now, and I can’t believe how fast time has flown. I’ve been keeping very busy finishing off my allotted time with Aspire Business Support, working out my plans for the next twelve months and I’ve made a few big decisions regarding my direction and plans.

I had been thinking that it was maybe time to do a big trade fair in London but all of the things I’m hearing about the big trade fairs seem to be the same and next year maybe isn’t the right time for me just yet. I’m going to concentrate on expanding my product range and my offer, work on making links with new outlets and strengthening the ones I have already, as well as doing a few well-chosen selling fairs.

My second batch of ceramics have just flown off to the kiln too, so there will be some one off pieces available soon. I’ve already had enquiries about them so I’m hoping they are going to sell out as quickly as the first ones did!! I maybe just need to explore ways to get the ceramics made on a slightly larger scale so I don’t have to worry about finding kiln space etc. if anyone has any suggestions of co panties that do this kind of hinge I’d be happy to be pointed in the right direction.

As my first school visit went so well I’ve also decided to work towards forging some links with schools in the area and starting to expand my work into that area. I found the day to be really rewarding, working with children from reception class up to year 6 a d it was facsinating to see how attitudes, ability and imagination changes as we get older. I definitely want to work in some way within education, but the way out national curriculum seems to be headi I wonder how easy it will be.

So it looks as though 2015 is going to be an exciting year, especially after the rollercoaster that was 2014. To go from nearly giving it all up to giving up my day job and having more time to spend on the business has been unexpected and scary but I can now see a way forward and hopefull I will be able to sustain my momentum throughout the coming year. I also need to think about my ‘word for the year’ – one word which I will keep in my mind throughout the year – I will post more about that when I’ve decided what it will be.
