My name is Sue Bulmer and I create original mixed media abstract landscape artworks, limited edition prints and greetings cards. I live in rural Nottinghamshire with my husband and dog and create my art from my studio at the top of my cottage garden.

My Story:
I have always loved creating art. I grew up on a farm in the North East of England and I remember being creative from an early age, painting at the kitchen table, entering art competitions and illustrating stories I had written in my school exercise books. I studied and pursued a career in the sciences but my creativity never left me and I finally got to follow my dreams in 2005 when I enrolled on a Foundation Course in Art and Design. This gave me the opportunity to rediscover and explore my artistic skills and techniques and develop my creative practice. Since then I have developed my art business selling my work through galleries, exhibitions and online.

I am self-taught and I have explored a variety of media, such as watercolour, textiles and stitch, print, drawing and mixed media. Throughout my early art career my work was mainly based around creating imagery in ink, but more recently I have begun to experiment with new media and am exploring new creative directions in abstract landscapes.

I started my business in 2011 and since then have exhibited widely across the UK, taken part in several trade fairs and undertook the post of Artist in Residence for the first Nottingham Festival of Words in 2013.

In 2017 I commenced studies on the MA Art Therapy programme at the Univeristy of Derby and I am now a qualified art therapist. This has given me the opportunity to combine my passions of health and art and I now work with clients across the East Midlands helping them to faciliate change through creativity.
